Google Adsense - my personal experience

is an ad serving network that allows you to create custom ads and ad channels, and display text, image or rich ads using embeddable code snippets.

AdSense ads are easy to customize and configure so that they integrate seamlessly into your blog.

In this post, I’d like to share some of my experience.

1.  How much can you earn from Google Adsense

Last month I placed a Google ads on my blog (http://how-to-make-cash-money.blogspot.com.au/.  You will notice the Google Ads on the top left side skyscraper. When people become interested in the ads and click on it, Google will pay me a small amount of ads fee. 

The revenue does not seem to be astronomical.  But it is a good way to monetise your blog and generate smart passive income.  However, you will get a good sense of satisfaction if you keep a low expectation on the initial revenue generated from Google Adsense.

2.    How to get a Google Adsense account

Lately Google has become quite stringent in granting new applications for Google Adsense.

I have heard quite a number of successful stories by following the above approach:

1) open a new Gmail account, and 
2) create a new blog linked to the new Gmail account, and 
3) post 5 articles in 5 consecutive days, and then 
4) apply for a Google Adsense account. 

However, my test experience in applying for a new Google Adsense account, does not seem to have such good luck. I lodged two subsequent applications for a new Google Adsense account on

Google declined both applications on two separate grounds:

Case A: Insufficient content

“Insufficient content: To be considered for AdSense, your site must contain
enough text content for our specialists to review and for our crawlers to
identify relevant ads to show on your pages. We recommend including more
complete sentences and paragraphs on your site. We require websites to be
fully launched and functioning, allowing users to navigate throughout your
site with a menu, sitemap, or appropriate links. Once the majority of your
site is complete and functional, we'll be happy to reconsider your
application.”

  Case B - Domain ownership

"Domain ownership: To complete our review of your website, we need to confirm that you have access to the HTML source code of the URL you've submitted or were given access to AdSense via a third-party platform.

I. If you host your own website or can edit the HTML code, please complete the following steps:
    1. Access the HTML source code of your website.
    2. Create a separate page on the site and paste the snippet:”
3. Successful Application for a Google Adsense account

After these two unsuccessful application, I lodged a third fresh application using a different gmail address.  This time I filled a comprehensive website of mine (www.hayz.com.au) in the associated website box.

 

 

Very soon, Google sent an email and asked me to place some codes into the html page on the site.  After following the following steps, my Google adsense account was fully approved last month.

“STEP 1: Access your account.

Visit http://www.google.com/adsense and sign in using the email address and password you submitted with your application. If you've forgotten your password, visit: http://www.google.com/adsense/support/as/bin/static.py?page=ts.cs&ts=1054302&sct=app-api. Please also make sure you have valid contact information in your account.

STEP 2: Create an AdSense ad unit.

Visit the "My ads" tab, confirm the product selected is "Content" and click "+New ad unit" or use the guided tour: http://goo.gl/umUzL

STEP 3: Implement the ad code on your pages.

After you create your ad unit, click “Save and get code” to generate the ad code to paste into the HTML source of your website. For help implementing the code, visit our Code Implementation Guide: http://goo.gl/u4pGI
If you don't have access to edit the HTML source of your pages, please contact your webmaster or hosting company.”

4. A tip on where to place the Google Ads

Once you get your Google Adsense account approved, you can actually place your Google ads on different websites and blogs from your initial application.  For example, I used http://www.hayz.com.au in my Google Adsense application as the intended site to place my ads.  Once approved, I have now placed the Google ads on my blog (click on Layout -> AdSense)
